When Boo was 3, her parents bought her a Snoopy microphone for Christmas that she was instantly obsessed with. All these years later, her excitement at making noises into microphones and broadcast in general has not subsided one little bit. If anything, it’s grown.
After a good stint on campus radio at university (amazingly she got a degree in Communication and Journalism in between DJing all the parties), Boo moved on to big commercial radio stations. From adult contemporary hit stations, to hard news talk radio and print journalism, Boo’s career in broadcast and print media has also included working in documentary film, and contributions to global best-seller non-fiction books. Boo has hosted, written and produced a wide range of talk and music radio shows and podcasts from hard news to lifestyle and off-beat formats in both South Africa and the UK.
Having narrated more than 4000 commercial productions in her career, Boo’s voice has been heard in airports, cinemas, on laptops, TVs, radios and at awards shows in every imaginable corner of the planet. With names like CNN International, BBC Lifestyle, Discovery Channel, and DSTV, Boo’s client reads like a column in the TV guide.
Boo is also well known as a media and presentation coach.
Somewhere deep in Rik’s audio collection is a recording made by his Grandad of him singing a nursery rhyme when he was 18 months old.
Fast forward to when he was 18 years old and his broadcasting career began at Radio HMV on London’s Oxford Street. After two years of playing songs to tourists in the West End he joined Galaxy Radio in Bristol. Moves to Invicta FM and Southern FM followed, before a five year stint hosting Drive on 103.2 Power FM, then over to kmfm in Kent before a return to his home patch with Media Sound in Sussex.
Rik’s station imaging voiceover credits read like an A to Z of UK radio over the past 30 years. For over a decade he was the voice of LBC News in London. Group voice for Real Radio, UKRD, Tindle, Lincs, Capital Group South, UTV’s AM Stations, Heart S&P, BBC Local stations in Hereford & Worcester, Cornwall, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxford and Herts, Beds & Bucks.
He’s currently heard by 7.5 million people every week as the male voice of Bauer’s Greatest Hits Radio, the UK’s most listened to commercial radio station.
As well as presenting and voicing, Rik’s an accomplished producer which has led him to this exciting partnership with Boo Prince.
